77+ Years of Dedicated Service

161+ Honored Members in Leadership

50+ State and National Union Partners

Since January 7, 1947, State Employees, Inc. (SEI) has stood as a bastion of support for those who protect and serve our nation. As a federally recognized 501(c)(7) nonprofit organization, our mission is rooted in the deep-seated belief that those who sacrifice their comfort for our collective security deserve more than just our gratitude, they deserve tangible financial security and family enrichment. This guide serves as a permanent record of the prestigious benefits available to veterans and active military members throughout the "North Star" and "Badger" states.

★ The Era of Foundation: Our Union Partnerships

The strength of SEI is built upon the bedrock of our union partnerships. We recognize that the military and veteran community in Minnesota and Wisconsin is not merely a demographic; it is a fellowship of heroes organized through local posts and associations. We work in direct coordination with these prestigious bodies to ensure that "military discounts MN" and "veteran discounts MN WI" are not just slogans, but lived realities for our members.

In Minnesota, we proudly recognize and serve members from:
MN National Guard Association (MNGA)
MN VFW (350+ posts statewide)
American Legion MN (350+ posts statewide)
Disabled American Veterans (DAV) MN
AmVets MN & Vietnam Veterans of America MN

In Wisconsin, our reach extends through:
Wisconsin National Guard Association (WNGA)
WI VFW (350+ posts statewide)
American Legion WI (500+ posts statewide)
DAV WI & AmVets WI

These organizations represent a Legacy of Sacrifice. Through SEI membership, we amplify the reach of their advocacy by providing a secondary layer of private-sector lifestyle perks and hardship relief.

★ Tier I: State-Level Financial Stewardship

The true measure of honor is found in the stewardship of one's future. For those seeking military discounts MN, the state government offers high-gravity financial benefits that serve as a foundation for economic stability.

Minnesota Military Tax Credits

  • The Combat Zone Tax Credit: A refundable credit of $120 per month for every month served in a qualifying hazardous duty area.
  • Past Military Service Tax Credit: A nonrefundable income-tax credit of up to $750 for resident veterans whose adjusted gross income meets specific thresholds.

Wisconsin Veteran Benefits

While Minnesota provides robust tax relief, Wisconsin matches this devotion through its Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA), offering property tax credits for disabled veterans and discounted access to the state's natural beauty through the Department of Natural Resources.

★ Tier II: Lifestyle and Family Enrichment

We believe that a "Steward of Service" should have the means to provide their family with moments of joy and reprieve. Through the SEI membership network, veterans gain exclusive access to premier recreation and lifestyle partners at rates far below the public offering.

The Disney & Travel Legacy

For many, the ultimate family pilgrimage is to the magic of Florida. SEI provides access to Disney World tickets and travel discounts that honor the family unit. By leveraging our partnership with Tickets at Work, our members unlock savings that are often the "best in class" for the industry.

Regional Recreation Icons

Great Wolf Lodge (Bloomington, MN & Wisconsin Dells): Utilizing the "Howling Heroes" military rate, members can save significantly: often up to 40%: on family lodging.
Mall of America SeaLife: Exclusive passes are available for our members, ensuring the essential workforce in the Twin Cities has affordable access to world-class education and entertainment.
Renaissance Festival: A tradition for many in the Midwest, SEI members receive prioritized pricing for these seasonal celebrations of history and culture.

★ Tier III: The SEI Membership Model

At SEI, we maintain a strict, transparent pricing structure to ensure our nonprofit remains a sustainable vessel for community growth. We do not offer "free" tiers to the general public because we believe in the value of the community we have built together.

Official Membership Tiers:

  • Active Essential Workforce & Military: $5 per year.
  • Retired or Retiring Members: $20 one-time payment for a LIFETIME membership.

This nominal investment provides a gateway to a growing network of local and national business partners who have pledged to support the essential workforce.

Wellness and Health

Our commitment to your longevity is reflected in our YMCA membership partnerships and wellness programs. We understand that the physical toll of military service requires a dedicated space for recovery and strength.

★ The Era of Rebuilding: Hardship Relief

Service often comes with unforeseen challenges. SEI is fiscally sponsored by the Foundation for American Service (FAS), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Through the Afford Today program, our members gain access to hardship relief and emergency grants. This is not a "discount": it is a safety net. Whether it is debt reduction planning or emergency financial assistance, we ensure that no veteran stands alone in their hour of need.

The Visionary Board

Every decision at SEI is governed by a 100% volunteer Board of Directors. This structure ensures that every dollar of your membership fee is reinvested into the mission of empowering the workforce. We operate with full integrity, maintaining a permanent record of our service to the Minnesota and Wisconsin communities.
