1. About SEI
State Employees, Inc. (SEI) is a 501(c)(7) nonprofit social welfare organization founded January 7, 1947. SEI is a fiscally sponsored project of The Foundation for American Service (FAS), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Together, SEI and FAS provide membership benefits to essential workforce members nationwide.
2. Membership
SEI membership is available to essential workforce members including federal, state, city, county, and township employees; teachers; university students and staff; hospital workers; and first responders. Membership fees are set annually and processed via Stripe credit card only. Paid memberships require eligibility verification through ID.me.
3. Payments
All payments are processed securely through Stripe. Credit card is the only accepted payment method. SEI does not store payment information. If ID.me verification fails, registration and account data are deleted immediately.
4. Wellness Hub
The SEI Wellness Hub is a paid membership benefit. Access is not free and is reserved for active SEI members and qualifying Board and Team volunteers. SEI is not responsible for third-party vendor deals, pricing changes, or service availability.
5. Volunteer Membership
Board members and Team volunteers who commit to one day per week of service receive complimentary full membership. Participation is evaluated by work ethic and task completion standards, not clocked hours. Tasks must be completed by the end of each assigned shift.
6. Legal Status
SEI is a 501(c)(7) nonprofit organization. SEI operates under fiscal sponsorship of The Foundation for American Service (FAS), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. FAS provides legal and financial infrastructure. Donations directed to FAS are tax-deductible.
